(Sigh) Well, it's over. You thought you had something there. It worked…then it didn’t. You rehash, fantasize, obsess and try to come to grips with your heartrending misfortune. The world still spins, yet your life is stuck on “Pause.” Well, help is here.
As part of National Breakup Season in January, Yahoo! Personals would like to offer some helpful advice on how to climb out of the rut, brush off the emotional muck, and eventually discover the kind of wonderful, caring relationship that you deserve.
What’s National Break-Up Season, You Ask?
January is traditionally the time for new resolutions, but for many people it’s also a time of romantic transitions. According to a new Yahoo! Personals survey, 30% of respondents said that they reassess their dating relationships at the start of the year. This is a time that Yahoo! Personals is now calling “Break-Up Season”. While not exactly an occasion for celebration, Break-Up Season is a time to reflect on this most shared of human experiences.

There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are a zillion ways to cope with the aftermath. Listen to the music of breaking up, read about surviving the breakup blues, rationalize along with best-selling authors Greg Behrendt & Amiira Ruotola Behrendt, or just read about someone else’s misery. It’s like chicken soup for the ego.

To get a better understanding of the how’s and why’s of breakups, the Yahoo! Personals survey looked at attitudes, preferences and experiences of a broad spectrum of people throughout the United States.
