Because I tend to be a bit shy, I knew that meeting guys online would be the
best for me. I had dated a guy I met on Yahoo! Personals for a few months earlier
this year but things did not work out. I decided to try again.
At the end of August, I received an Icebreaker from Jimmy. He seemed cool but
I saw that his smoking preference was "I'll tell you later." Since
I am asthmatic, I did not even reply. A few days later, Jimmy emailed me. I
figured that he had subscribed just to send me an email; I may as well be honest
with him so I replied.
I learned he was down to four cigarettes a day from more than a pack a day
and was hoping to be completely smoke-free in another week or so. That was good
enough for me and the emails and IM conversations commenced.
Watched the sun set
We live about 30 minutes apart and agreed to meet on Sept. 12 for lunch near
my house. He brought me 15 peach roses. We had a great lunch and then went to
Sunken Meadow Park to walk the boardwalk and watch the sun set. We sat on a
bench, he held me, and that's when he kissed me for the first time.
That date lasted for eight hours and only ended because we both had to get
to work the next morning. We continued to see each other about three or four
times a week and talk twice a day. He is still trying his hardest to quit smoking
and because I love him so much, I am supporting him and accepting it, I know
it's extremely difficult.
It's amazing how your thinking changes when you're in love. Imagine the wonderful
man I would have passed up if he had never tried again and emailed me that day.
I could not be happier. I can't imagine my life without this man by my side,
and I owe it all to Yahoo! Personals.

will find out eventually anyway. If they don't like what they read, they shouldn't
be replying to your profile.
